This is the Summer Sunset Series' eleventh season. The friendly running race series has grown in popularity as people have discovered Pine Hill Park and the uniquely beautiful trail system it has to offer. In the first few years of the race series, the Park had only a few trails on which to race. Across the last several years, the Pine Hill Partnership, through the many volunteer groups it harnesses, has added nearly ten miles of high-level single-track trails, providing many wonderful options for running. Each year the course changes to keep the Series fresh and interesting. The course length varies slightly due to the fixed trail lengths within the trail system but generally stays at or just over the 5K mark.
The course is well marked with highly visible cones and arrows and there are plenty of park trail signs to guide you back to the trail head should you manage to stray off the course. Runners of all abilities are welcome. We have people who try to sprint the whole way and folks that walk most of the course.
The atmosphere is very laid back and everyone is there to get out and have a good time. Runners who do all three races get a very fine T-Shirt.
At the final August race, the season's T-Shirt is unveiled. The shirts are a work of art each year and generally have a map of the course on the back.
Pine Hill Park affords a network of well maintained Single-Track trails.
Runners of all sizes enjoy the Sunset Series.
Sunset Series starts are relaxed and social.
